Ribbon-cutting Ceremony Celebrates New Salon

California City residents, Dawn Parsons and Yolanda Borsch, co-owners of “Snip & Tips,” bring 30 years’ total experience to their new business which had its Grand Opening on Saturday, June 25 2011.
Community leaders present to celebrate the event included:  Cal City Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Michele Chebahtah and Secretary, Toni Evans; Alta One Service Manager, Michael Sashenosky; and the 2011 California City Community Queens:  Miss California City, Jessica Rockwell; Junior Miss California City, Cynthia Nunez; Little Miss California City, Ariel Nelson; and Little Miss California City Princess, Deaven Singleton.

Dawn and Yolanda, who have been friends for 20 years, are both graduates of
Lancaster Beauty College.   Over the years they have built a loyal customer base in California City by working in several salons, but cherished the goal to start their own business.  “Opportunity knocked and we took it,” explained
Yolanda and Dawn added, “Our clients gave us a swift kick to go out on our own, so here we are!”

The Snip & Tips Salon, which is wheelchair accessible, provides all hair and
nail  services, as well as waxing.  Next month mobile cosmetologist, Connie
Bentley, will also take appointments at the salon for customized blending
makeup services.  Salon hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Sunday and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when Dawn’s son, Joshua Wiseman also a licensed cosmetologist, will provide hair services.

Current specials include one-time offers of $5.00 off on a set of acrylics and $3.00 off a haircut for all new customers.  Senior discounts are also offered on all services, except for hair coloring.  Complimentary coffee, tea, and
sodas are always available in the cozy new salon, located at 6508 California
City Boulevard. Appointments can be made by calling 760.373.1000.
